Canalys released its Q3 2011 country-storey smart phone shipment estimates to clients, revealing that HTC has taken the top spot in the US marketplace. At the same time, a particularly strong carrying into action from Samsung saw it become the world’s number one smart phone seller. Overall, the worldwide market grew substantially: 49% year-on-year to 120.4 one thousand thousand units.

A new report published by psychoanalyst firm Juniper Research forecasts that the number of global smartphone shipments will reach one one thousand million per annum in 2016, up from 302 million in 2010.
Smartphones — traditionally high-end handsets — will make-up the bulk of shipments in five days’ time, as this type of device becomes available at lower price points.
