When you twist on the Nokia N97 for the first meter, it takes a while to get going, as if you were booting up a new PC for the first base meter.

Our first impressions of the Nokia N97 are positive. Its materials are all nice to the touch and the opening mechanism feels reassuringly solid. The screen slides and clicks into place with an exacting and pleasantly audible snap. The N97’s assault and battery covering fire has a smooth matte finishing which is nice to the touch and provides goodness clasp. It’s a huge improvement on the tacky plastic covering fire which plagued its predecessor, the N96. The alloy strip daily round the edge of the screen gives the earphone a touching of class. The screen has a mirrored finishing, similar to the LG Shine, which is noticeable when the phone is dormant. This is easily the nicest look N-series phone Nokia has produced. At a glance the N97’s keypad seemed small. The switch key is inconveniently placed too close to the directional diggings, which means that highlighting text is a real number pain as you rich person to clasp down shift and move the diggings left field or right field – it would rich person been better if it had been located at the other end of the keyboard. That said, typing out texts and emails is easy sufficiency. There’s no Ctrl + C – Ctrl + V military action, which is 1 of the things we really liked about the Nokia E75. You can copy and paste, but it agency departure through Options, Copy, etc. We reckon that Nokia could rich person added to the ‘mobile computing machine’ vibe of the N97 had they added some real computer keyboard shortcuts. The 3.5-in display is very bright, offering sharp contrast and rich item – web pages are rendered clearly, and text is easily legible even on the smallest mise en scene. The menus ar bright and colourful, with the briny fare rocking a baby amobarbital sodium color outline. As it’s a Nokia it runs on Symbian S60, which agency familiarity and easy navigation for most Nokia veterans. You toggle switch between the two main fare screens using the silver solidus push button located on the bottom left field of the phone when it’s in closed. The camera works beautifully, allowing you to effortlessly take crisp, detailed shots, which again looking great on the large blind. You zoom in and out by touching the yellow-bellied terrapin on the screen which pops up on the left when you’re retention the earphone in landscape manner. You soar in and out of pics in the same way when you survey them in the drift. Automatic photoflash deeds wellspring, we took some pictures indoors of bookshelves in a darkness way, and it literature things up perfectly. You tin manually adjust the flash, turning it completely off or altering settings for redness-eye reduction. Similar to Nokia’s E75, the N97 has left field us with mixed first base impressions. It looks and feels great, has a goodness camera and pictures taken look good on the blind. However, we have some issues with the keyboard, which could easily be bettor. We haven’t had the chance yet to listen to any medicine on it, or nose dive into the Ovi Store, but we’ll be sure to cover these features when we position the full follow-up up.
